There was a sort of natural reverb when firing at the Behringer and it sounded sweet to my ears.

I thought you had A DIGeetal filTER to fixtheseTHINGS.

priceless.
just like the RED cam I am too, too familiar with.

Oh my...
I swear I did not create this one.
But now I don't have to. A friend of mine does animation and this would be too easy.

Good to see they've been reading the threads and craigslist.

WOW! I'm not really sure whether to laugh, or cry - I had that EXACT conversation with a couple of filmmakers only a few months ago!

Definitely laughing...

Same here, going on right now via e-mail. Except for "client" not offering free sandwiches.

"I can't pay my rent with art"

That needs to be on a poster in the studio.

Ok, but...

this is what is heard in the Final Cut Studio Ad @ apple web site:

"you can have all of this in your living room; you can have it in the garage; the technology doesn't need the giant infrastructure anymore..."

everybody watches those ads, producers too...

"why the hell you need this Nucoda grading, you can do everything in Color on my Mac!"...

Am I wrong? Or not?

Unfortunately, you're all too right...

I just forwarded this to some folks I work with: sound designers, DOPs mixers but also producers and directors. I thought it's pretty innocent joke though taking from the real world.
But recently I met one of the producers I sent this and he was really insulted by it.
He said: "Do you find it's funny? This actually shows how greedy you are and don't see how the whole process works. All you worry about is your rates and when... You don't understand how the industry work"

I have no comments But it just explains me that there are many transparent issues that we all agree about and make lough of it.And at the same time, sometimes we are dealing with simply unprofessional "movie makers" calling themselfs producers or even directors. They could make a progress and get to the features with attitude of newbies or pre film-school folks.
So be careful to whom you send it

Wow...definitely drop that guy. The "proposal" in the video came to $50/day for the audio engineer. *THAT'S* insulting!

I have already used this in another thread (sorry), but this is a question I once got from a "producer" over the phone:
"What's a boom pole?"

Nucoda is already a few steps down the ladder...

"Why do we need to pay for this Baselight? Can't we bring our Mac to your 2K DCI projection room and plug in? We've already done everything in Color in our High DefinitionTM LCD, why do we have to do it again?"

True story, by the way...

"Green screen will make it easy... I have seen this in behind the scenes videos..."

Just finished a micro-budget that I'm pretty sure was done by that same crew!

Oh thank you so much Dr. Sound, you had spoken for me. I worked in Asia most of the time on production sound, and you know what, 90% of what on this video are true...to every single "sound" from the director and production manager, scary!

thank you, thank you.

"Red camera is a $17k brick with a noisy fan....", Oh I love this.

wow, it's so true...

Producers/Production Companies will take the time/money to rent a RED, but not spend the an any money on location sound.

Literally I was approached by a production company who is 'supposedly' shooting a movie in Dunedin,FL in September with a total budget of around 110k, but couldn't afford the $300 a day (total) for myself, an assitant, and some minor league sound gear for a 16 day shoot (10-14 hours a day in hot/humid weather). He even said his last production went over budget because they had to ADR more scenes than should have not needed it, but production sound was so shotty they had to re-record. I told him 'you need to invest in sound in order to get your return on investment from sound'. He replied... I'll get back to you. Never heard from him again, not even a re-negotiation call.

I'm all for giving a lot of time/effort/dedication for a movie, but if you have a budget, TREAT YOUR CREW RIGHT.
