Western Digital just came out with new Raptor 10K RPM Sata drives in
450 and 600gb:

I remember when you couldn't pay me to use WD or a Deathstar, and you did your best to find Maxtors and Quantums. And a 9 gig was considered a total splurge. Get off my lawn.

I paid $2999 for a 9 gig Quantum Atlas to put in my Macintosh 8100/100

and I woulda gotten away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids.!

I remember desperately juggling two Kingston slots of 9 Gig IBM SCSI drives to keep editing a mixing shows every week.

"What do you mean we only have one Kingston drive left?! I've got 200 MB space left! Hey you! I have a show to mix. That one's mine!" (An editor and me proceed to engage in basic human interaction on a physical basis, moving plenty of air between the two of us.)

Now I'm worried about storing too much on one drive. I'll be monitoring this thread for stories of grief or joy.
