Thread Starter | Narrow Bands of Pan
Hello, I am looking for advice on how to achieve the clearest separation of a number of similar elements panned across the stereo spectrum... The sounds are pad's placed across the stereo spectrum... There is no verb, i am highpassing a little, they are mono, I am delaying one channel a little and not hard panning so that can be perceived. I am also notching filtering the alternating bands so that large gaps are left for clarity. Their parameter modulations are designed to move in contrary motion to the pads on either side to help distinguish the parts What else can I do to create a more separation between this sounds who have a similar but varied texture and no transient... Would a stereo expander like Sindo with its bandwith compression help on the main mix? Is there a way to expand the bands so that fill more space in the stereo spectum but are constricted to a single band of it? (heres a little illustration) L{-------|----}R -- Normal pan L{-----[==]---}L -- Expanded width gives perceivable edges maybe? I know this is an oddity bear with me... try to think of it as hard edged columns of color -- how can I sharpen the edges? This is for TV but as long as my phase meter doesn't go to far below zero Im interested in all ideas. Your advice is greatly appreciated |
