Thread Starter | Using Pro Tools GPI
Hi all, Has anybody had any experience using the GPI outputs on a Sync I/O? We're looking to get it to control a red light outside the studio. Anybody managed to get it to work? Thanks, Nick |

yes, works as advertised. Are you planning to use a mains voltage red light? I would go with a LED Array. If you need mains switching, you should use an external, correctly rated relay to switch on/off the light. The ones on the SYNC I/O rate at 500mA, 200VDC and I wouldn't risk them. I think there is a fancy commercial red light that connects to that port or via MIDI. Found it: Punchlight Automatic Cue Light and Timecode Display Systems BTW, it's a shame that the GPI INPUTS cannot be assigned to specific functions, that would be cool. |

Thanks for the response. I've had a look at the Punchlight systems and they look very good. I was just looking into the possibility of doing the same without buying one of their boxes. Think it would be easier to just buy it but I'll have a look at trying to get it to work. Thanks again! Nick |
