A Bundle like Waves Gold is a good starting point to give you a few toys to play with. It has a couple of reverbs, de-esser, M/S decode and balance tools. compressor and EQ. the L1 maximizer is good. A Convolution reverb is a must if you are doing any sound design stuff. it is great to be able to put a voice in the right environment / washing machine/ flower pot. TL Space if you can afford it, it quite often comes bundled with pro tools packages. Waves do the IR-1 and IR-L. SIR is a VST convolution tool that is free if you want the non-delay compensated version. (VST ONLY) You May also need pitch and stretch tools. IMO nothing touches the Izotope algorithms. If you are PT then X-form is the direction to take. Noise reduction. Ask them to employ a sound recordist rather than a runner with a mic. Or go for the Izotope collection. really good value. Metering. PPmulator (UK delivery) Other plugins which have proved their worth are Waves speed. for tape wow/record stop general sound design Also very useful are X-crackle and X-Click. good for removing the obvious but also good for regenerating distorted audio. Z-noise is worth looking at although I would still go for Izotope. Good Luck! |

Speaking og metering. Sonifex just released some new and cheap hardware meters: Sonifex Meters 8 channels will cost around 1200 euros in Denmark. Best wishes, Mikkel |
