Thread Starter | D Cinema-Changes on the Audio side
I would like to open this thread, to share your experiences regarding what the advent of Digital Cinema will or is bringing in terms of sound mixing for theatre exibition. As discrete channels are in PCM format, rather than Dolby Digital or the need to an SR version is over(at least on a pure digital release), I guess that some changes will come along in terms of levels and even clarity of sound, as compression will be out of the game. On the other hand, as the majority of theatres acoustics and mixing rooms are calibrated to the Xcurve, what standards will survive and what wil come up, regarding dialogue levels, mixing to 82 or 85 db spl in mixing rooms, loudness monitoring and calibration, uniformity of theatre releasing versus home release etc. Inputs on this subjects will be appreciated. Thanks Paulo M
