Thread Starter | Festival Submission DVD Formatting
This is more of a video question, but I'm an audio guy so I'd like to know if anyone here has an opinion. Is there a standard for how DVDs are formatted when they are to be submitted to a festival? Instant play? Menu? How about a slate or bars & tone at the beginning of the video? I know nothing! If there are options, I'd like to keep it simple. Also, how would you keep a 2-pop from being affected by a compressor on the master output of my Pro Tools session? Automate the plugin to be off until after the beep? Everything I think of seems a little sloppy. These probably aren't typically relevant questions for anyone. |

I would doubt festival prgrammers would be interested in any bars, tone or two pops - this is effectively your preview screening of the film and you wouldn't play tone to an audience unless you were at a Japanese noise art gig. A simple attractive menu with a go button is probably best. I wouldn't send it on a scrawled dvdr in a branded jewel case, put some effort into the physical presentation too. I think you answered your own question about the 2 pop! Rob walker |
