Sorry if we are going over old ground here, I'll keep it brief. Questions: 1) Is it ok to use the plugin rather than the hardware LM100? 2) What is the workflow using the LM100 (or plug in)? 3) We're delivering 5.1 and stereo, is it best to create the stereo using a downmix plugin? Massive thanks! Matt

1: either is fine--some time advantages w/ the plug (w/ LM100 you have to play down in real time to get an average) 2: I have the LM100 up on the AES stereo out of of the DAW all the time when I'm building the show, to make make sure the dialog stays legal. I find if I do this then everything else falls into place pretty well. 3: That's what I did-- the "stereo" is really an LtRt. You do have to check it to make sure that whatever fold-down scheme you used didn't change your dialnorm, and adjust the level of that file if it did. Philip Perkins

yeah PP is right on the money, hit the dialog and narration/VO first, make sure its in the right place with dial norm values. then mix around that. The plug will be helpful with the mixdown, you can print a mixdown as you layback the 5.1 and then audiosuite with the dolby plug to see what value its at, adjust accordingly and process again, otherwise you would have to run it real time through the LM100 box. |

+1 mix your voice (narr, vo, dialog), and watch the dolby meter, soon you will have to watch it less as your ear figures out what it wants. go through the whole show, then work your other elements around the dialog. you should be in a good spot by then.
