| Gear Head | Mtools Help please
hi guys I'm having problems importing files to my mtools library i dont use CDs i have .wav on my harddrive wich are named like this "body - falling tumbling on the ground 1.wav" which means the filename is pretty much the description. now we use Mtools 3.02 on a mac pro with mac os Tiger 10.4.10 now i copied the file names into the Spotlight comments and built a Database with databasebuilder. databasebuilder shortens the file names but doesn't add the comments to the description. could you please explain to me how to name and import files to mtools correctly on mac osX i tried all the manuals and they only describe how to rip files from cd help please i don't want to rename them all over again... its like 15gb of audio

Hi Bernhard, Try SoundMiner! Importing sounds is a matter of drag and drop (unless you really want to go into detail) and the edit functions are really great. I use the V4 version and for me it's perfect! V4 costs about € 420 - there is a cheaper version called Miniminer. Just check soundminer.com (hope it's OK to post). |

Or use basehed, which costs a fraction of soundminer

In filemaker you can copy one field (like the filename) to another (like the comment) by using the "Replace Field..." command in the... Records menu? It's been such a long time! I'd strongly recommend you not use mTools, there's NetMix, Soundminer, Library Monkey... The problem with mTools is the Filemaker end of the equation is very kludgy. |
