Is there any way of preventing youtube from destroying my audio?

Sorry if this a totally dumb question, but what can I do keep youtube from garbling the audio in my uploaded video. Here's an example:

My music streaming at reverbnation:

Same music in video form at youtube:

YouTube - dubnickmusic's Channel

The effect is particularly drastic on the video for Disappear. The movie files themselves don't sound f'd up, but once they're uploaded, it's pretty atrocious. I apologize if this is a newbie question, but I'm new to the video end of things.

As I understand it 'normal' youtube audio is mono with AAC at 64 Kbit/sec

To get better resolution audio your video needs to be higher resolution so it is encoded to what youtube call HQ or HD

but then you still need to make it play in HQ or HD to hear the difference...

According to this site:
YouTube High Definition

&fmt=6 increases the resolution from 320x240 to 448x336, Flash 7 video @ 900Kbps; audio @ 44.1KHz 96Kbps Mono CBR.
YouTube - 720p HD Video

&fmt=18 increases the resolution to 480x360, H.264 video @ 512Kbps; audio @ 44.1KHz 128Kbps Stereo.
YouTube - 720p HD Video

&fmt=22 increases the resolution to 1280×720 (720p), H.264 video @ 1024Kbps; audio @ 44.1KHz 232Kbps Stereo.
YouTube - 720p HD Video

A better solution?

use vimeo
