Thread Starter | For those of you with D-Commands
I am working in a room with a D-Command console. I understand the whole point of this board is to eliminate the need for a keyboard and mouse. That being said, there are some things that I prefer the keyboard and mouse for. As such, does anyone know of a pre-made keyboard/mouse tray that would sit, say, on top of the console (kind of above the faders)? Any help would be appreciated. Randall |

Well, this is about the ergonomics and personal preference. I prefer to have keyboard behind the board, I mean the keyboard is placed between me and the board and faders' level. The mouse is placed on the right side of the keyboard. The question is, if you mainly mix or mainly edit or perhaps both... I think, that the key is to have both (the board and keyboard/mouse) and prepare the workflow, which would work for you. There are some tasks, which are done faster with board, other might be done faster with keys/mouse... regards, Kuba |

Kuba, Thanks. The work done in the room with be a pretty even split of mixing and editorial. As such, sometimes I will need the keyboard/mouse and other times the faders will be the right call. Thanks for the ICONTRAY info. The ICONTRAY looks cool, but I think that it is too small at 12"x12". My keyboard is 17" long. It would hang off the sides. Randall Quote:

This is one of the main gripes I have with the DCommand... I haven't had any luck finding a place to put the keyboard and mouse... seems like a pretty big design flaw... love the board.... hate the ergonomics...

I may be misunderstanding your exact situation but it sounds like more of an enclosure/desk issue than a D-Command issue. I'm sure you've pondered this but...can you just slide the D-Comand backward a few inches on your workspace to allow for a keyboard and mouse? You really only need 7 or 8 inches to manage effectively with a mouse. I must say, the keyboard situation is not well thought out on this board. I just got the Argosy desk for the D-Command with the sliding keyboard tray. But I would MUCH rather be on the same level as the D-Command. I have to slink down close to the ground now and a foot further away from the board.
