Quicktime "jumps" on Nuendo

I am mixing music to picture for a TV series. The MD/arranger has given me a Nuendo song per episode containing a Quicktime (about 48 min long) and the music is produced by a few VSTs and a little audio. The problem is the Quicktime picture "Jumps" about every 3 seconds. The strange thing is the MD has a very similar set up to me but has no problem with the picture jumping. I have all the same settings as on his Nuendo unless I am missing something!

The Set Up:

Windows XP Professional service pack III (build 2600)
2 gig RAM
Main board: MSI Microstar 865 PE Neo 2
3.20 GIGAHERTZ Intel P4 Processor
Matrox Millennium G450 Dual Head
Powercore PCI & Powercore PCI MkII
RME DIGI9652
Quicktime 7

Quicktime and Nuendo at 25 Frames. Need to run DIGI9652 buffer at 512 or 1024 to prevent gliching on audio. Picture set to "Small size". full screen creates gliching in audio at 512 but not at 1024. Jumping on picture does not seem to change with higher or lower latency settings or by removing all VSTs.

I have found that every time the DIGI9652 latency setting is changed Nuendo must be shut down and rebooted before it takes effect.

Quicktime:
25 fps
720 X 576 pixel
48:40 min
1768000 KB

In Nuendo Preferences video Cache is set to 10 MB and Thumbnails is off.
Have tried higher and lower settings on the video Cache but the problem stays.

I have no Internet connection and have set windows automatic updates to "Off". Have removed my AVAST anti virus as well.

What other info??

Any ideas??

set the video cache to 128

is it H264 com pression by any chance? That seem to eat up a lot of resources.

import the vid into a new session with just the vid.. does it still jump?

I have had similar issues in the past, always with h264. maybe convert it to sorenson3 or DV?

When I was using Nuendo 3 it seemed to get along really well with the Motion JPEG B codec.
If you have quicktime pro you can use that codec if you go into the settings and enable legacy codecs.

You could get MPEG Streamclip (Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows) for the conversion. Free and great.

Thanks for the ideas! Problem solved. Jesse mentioned problems with H264, and on checking the latest version of Quicktime 7.6.5, I see it now has support for H264. So I downloaded and installed it and - NO jumping.
Thanks guys.
