Free SFX downloads

I am looking for some "office ambience", but I don't want to pay for any sound effects. I am thinking of just going and recording some but....first I want to see if I can download some for free.

I found one website that is legitimately free (freesound :: home page). There was a couple office clips but I am not sure it is what I am looking for..... most of there sounds seem to be leaning more towards dance music type "samples" rather then ambient sound effects.

Does anyone else know of any other good legitimately free websites to download sounds from?

Are you sure they're mp3? Hollywood Edge are/were giving away something in the region of 600MB of WAV files.

or better still go to freesound or soundsnap.

Maybe the HE free sounds are full bandwidth now....if so, so much the better. When I checked them out some time ago they were mp3, presumably as a teaser collection. Still pretty high quality sounds though, whatever the format. HE is a good library.

Cool

Yes, there are lots of music related samples on FreeSound, but it's FREE, and there are lots of other very useful samples; you just need patience to weed through it all. I've used quite a few things from there, as have a few Hollywood films.

Also sites like SoundDogs and Sonomic allow you to purchase by-the-sound; I can't imagine that $5 or $10 will bust your budget.

Soundsnap you currently get the first 5 sounds per month for free, and unlike FreeSound.Org, this is a commercial library, the rights you get allow for commercial use without the restrictions and attribution requirements of a Creative Commons license.

I'm sorry, I tried to Google "Free SEX Downloads" and wound up here by mistake. Must have been a typo.

What exactly is the internet address of Freesound? I tried Freesound.com and was getting something weird I think...

Also, could those sounds be freely used in commercial projects? (with no later fees ??)

Sound Dogs usually works for me, but the demo MP3s are so low fi that you sometimes just have to take a chance that the sound will work for you. It usually does. When SD doesn't have what I want I usually try Sonomic.
