32" LCD suggestions

I've been looking at Sony Bravia "S" and "XBR" series 32" LCDs for use in my little mix room (no room for anything bigger). At least at first I have to send it SD composite video from a V1. Is anyone happy or unhappy with those monitors, or have an alternative to suggest? I know I will need a Syncheck.

Hi Phil,

I think the Panasonic's look better. Better contrast, deeper picture, better technology.

I would try and use component, composite looks bad on an LCD

We have the 42 inch Sony XBR in our main video room and it looks GREAT. We also have been using some of the VIZIOs in less critical applications. We have a Panasonic 32 inch in our audio for video room and it too looks GREAT.

It all depends on the use and how you relate to the picture it is producing. We have a couple of the VIZIO computer monitors as well and my editor likes the pictures it produces when he is editing.

Today there is not as much of a difference as there was a couple of years ago and most TVs today look good after some initial tweaking.

We went with Samsungs throughout our facility. They look as good as the Sony's to me, and we saved a fair amount of money. (We had 7 to buy...so the savings added up.)

Generally I'd go with the Panasonics as they have a great picture (all the audio/video rooms at work use them) - with the right codec it looks fantastic but I'd also give another thumbs up to Samsungs - really good tvs (I have the B650 model), a little cheaper and they have particularly poor speakers which are handy to ref your mix on!
