GML 9550 Dynamic Noise Filter

I am trying to re-commission a GML 9550 Dynamic Noise Filter that
was taken out of service years ago. Does anyone have any comments
on this unit vs any of the broadband Cedar boxes?

I was hoping to use this on ingest from a Digibeta deck so latency
might be an issue without a video delay.

I cannot do a test myself until I find/source the remote, or the Mac
control utility.

Thanks everyone.

I beta tested this unit 10 years ago, and it is as good as a Cedar DNS1000.

IIRC, latency wasnt that bad. But we didnt ingest through the box, we digitized mag into Protools
via Apogee converters. The we nudged, and conformed. Lastly a pass through the GML.

Me thinks George sold the design to Cedar, but I could be wrong!

Jim,
The only place I know who has one is Disney.
Contact the Engineereing dept:
The Walt Disney Studios - Post Production Services - Contacts

They have : Disney proprietary digital noise filter (it is the GML that is modified)
Good Luck,

Was not. Cedar is based on Cepstrum Analysis and the GML is FFT. It is actually more closely related to the Sonic Nonoise which has 512 bands. The GML only has 64 bands. Not available or supported anymore.

If they were all that and a bag of (56,000 IC) chips, you'd see it everywhere. I don't know anyone who has one.

I stand corrected!!!

BUT, I liked the GML better than the Cedar for de-noising old mag transfers.

George was peddling it to us (Complete Post) back in 1999, but it was way overpriced.

I have been in contact with GML service and limited support is
still available. It will take me a couple of weeks to get everything
sorted but if I can get it running I will post a brief evaluation.

Thanks for all of your comments.
