Tricking the LM100 with a C4 Compressor on the Dialog bus?

Hello everyone,

I am mixing for Discovery and I read on the other lm100 threads here about adding a c4 compressor to the dialog bus and compress the mids a bit, you are able to trick the lm100 a little and get the dialog a litter hotter.

What I was not able to find was about setting up the c4. One person said use the factory setting. I tried using a c4 and getting about 3dB reduction in the 200 to 3K range with 3dB makeup (10ms attack) , but the lm100 doesnt read lower, actually higher. I dont think I am setting it up right. Do you not add any makeup gain?

Any advice would help. Thank you very much!

There really is no way, dialnorm is dialnorm.

Mix to specs, and your show will sit just fine.

My specs ask for -24 +-2, I mix to -23, and the shows don't stand out.

There's no point in using loudness meters to get everyone to mix at the same LOUDNESS level if your first idea is to try to get the stuff to be LOUDER than what LOUD should be for the programme.

I actually thought that loudness meters would help get rid of the loudness war...
