What cricket sounds are looking for specifically? I needed some rugby sound and just went to a local practice and recorded it with a cheap recorder. That was the easiest way, seeing that no one I found had a good library of sport sounds.

large crowd snoring... crickets chirping in the background, long bored sighs... an occasional whoosh of a bat missing a ball.

sorry... couldn't resist.

cheers

I've been to a couple cricket matches... from the spectators point of view, It's kind of cross between american baseball and soccer. I've also seen the more laid back "upper crust" games where the crowd is a more like golf..... the crowd depends on where the match is held and the size of the field/park. the "sounds" of the game are really only the bowler running up and "throwing' the ball, the ball bounce , the bat hit, the ball hitting the wickets, the runners feet,.. occasionally a hi-five with gloves. everything else is humans speaking... the batter, the "bowler" the wicketkeeper, fielders etc. I think there are 12 on a team , with 11 on the field at anytime.

there is nothing that you couldn't create or dig up in a library of good baseball sounds other than the spoken stuff.

I've attached a guide book ( cricket umpire book ) maybe it can help yuo with some direction for the dialogue side of the match. There are also some cricket matches on youtube...

I was SO tempted to correct the "the "sounds" of the game are really only the bowler running up and "throwing' the ball.."
But the rest of the post was correct in all of the terms..

But regarding the OP, I'd sill venture to say that if you are close to a cricket ground, I'd go to the 'nets' and just record the sounds from there. One training session will suffice, and you'll be able to actualy get quite a lot without having to ask for specific things.. As Georgia pointed out.. Cricket is actualy quite boring, so there isn't that much happening.. Except if it's the IPL series thats currently in SA!!

cricket's bloody brilliant! and not at all boring......apart from when it rains.....which it does.......quite a lot........especially here in england.......then it's really boring.

on the bbc sound fx cds I think there are a few cricket crowds and ambiences but no specific ball on bat type sounds.
