Any DAW: EdiPrompt - New app for cueing Actors/Foley artists

Hi all,

Here's a new mac application for ADR or Foley recordists/editors.

EdiPrompt overlays visual prompts, text, counters or streamers from any DAW on top of a movie window. Compatible with Apple desktop displays only, it also automates the ADR and foley recording process when using Pro Tools 7.0 and above.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark--looked at the site, great looking app. Not sure what you meant about the app requiring an Apple display? If I use it on a PC, do I still need to use an Apple monitor? Why? Or am I misreading?

Perhaps it requires Quicktime Video Output Components?

Your application looks great. If I had my own stage I would give it a run.

i love the idea, but I can't use it (or others like it) until they become compatible with firewire output.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the setup looks like that does make use of it. Are people running separate remote-controlled pt systems in the booth?

I'm an avid edicue user here btw. Love it for adr cueing and music spot sheet making.

Thanks for the comments.

Just to clarify... Yes EdiPrompt runs on Macs only (10.3 and above). It overlays the visual elements over any area of an Apple desktop display. A desktop display is a display you configure in System Preferences. If you can move a window like safari onto it, then you can configure EdiPrompt to overlay streamers there.

It can't overlay on a firewire output, but a lot of people simply display a quicktime window onto a second or third desktop display. (Yes a lot of people run three or four displays on Pro Tools, myself included). There are also devices that can convert DVI to composite video for ADR booth monitors.

EdiPrompt can run on the mac that is running the DAW or a second mac, but it can only control Pro Tools to automate recording when it is run on the same mac as Pro Tools.

Feel free to download the demo which includes a user guide.

Regards,

Mark

Is there a way to make the demo-time longer? It takes me about 3 Minutes to set EP up every time and then when I have everything up to test it the streamers get disabeled and I have to start over (because one can´t save).

30 Minutes would be better to at least get the chance to use all functions longer than 1 Minute.

thanks!

Okay we'll change this in the next update. In the mean time if you email me off-list I can send you a 'trial' serial number that will fully enable EdiPrompt for 7 days.

Mark

How does "only runs on Macs" square with "any DAW"? Will you make a PC version, I hope? (I use Editrace on a PC...)

Okay, fair point. We simply wanted to point out that it reads midi that any (OS X) DAW can generate.

We may look at making a win version later this year, but there are some functions that are only possible in OS X.

Some of you may be interested that we've posted an update to EdiPrompt. The new version (v1.1.0) includes:

- New 'Auto Cue' feature to automatically generate A/V cues when DAW plays or records
- Option to have counters count down or up
- Setting to adjust the display duration of counters

Pro Tools only features:
- Extra window to set the track name of one or more record tracks
- 'Hot Keys' to rename the record track(s) using a region name or set a pre-record locate
- New Play and Record 'Hot Keys' added to only play A/V cues when previewing and recording

The new version can be downloaded from here.

Regards,

Mark
