Thread Starter | What type of video files/equipment necessary for voiceover business?
So, I'm thinking of starting to offer some recording services (prior to this, my equipment has been used for my own hobbies) to the public...just part time on an as scheduled basis (I work full time as a mechanical engineer for a medical company). I have a pretty impressive collection of gear including a new Mac Pro, Digital Performer, Apogee Ensemble, full midi capabilities plus some kick ass outboard. What I am lacking at the moment is space. I currently rent an apartment which has neighbors on both sides and above tutt, so drums and live bands are out of the question. Voiceover work, audio editing, small acoustic singer/songwriters can probably be accommodated, though. What type of video equipment is typically used for voiceovers? Would DP cut it? Is it more like Final Cut? Thanks in advance. |

M-Box with ProTools and Final Cut on a Power Mac would be the obvious and cheapest choice. If you are locked to PCs then perhaps an M-Box with ProTools and Media Studio would be the easiest path. All singing, all dancing would be the pro versions of PT and Final Cut or for PC, the large Matrox HD system with Adobe Premier.

to do voiceovers for companies you will need professional LOOKING facilities. The bigger payers just don't touch any operation in someones house - for many reasons.
