Thread Starter | Jecklin disk and omni mics , for ambience recording? Hi there Is this way of recording used for ambience recording in post? I got an upcoming museum sound job, where the audience will listen to a historic sea battle, through earphones. I would like to use the Jecklin disk and some omni mics, for recording, the wind, water, and walla ambs. Is this a good solution? Best wishes, and thanks alot ![]() Mikkel |

| The Jecklin disc would do a good job. Also Soundman, a German company, make a wonderful range of binaural mics that fit 'in ear'. Might be 'interesting' to use them in windy cobditions though, but getting a decent windshield around a Jecklin disc would be fun! Soundman-English |

| I use a Jecklin disc for recording ambs somewhat regularly. I like the technique, but it's not great for everything. It's very bulky, and wind protection can be a problem, though Omnis suffer less from wind noise than cardioids. I can usually get away with just having the foam windscreens over my mics unless there is a real breeze. It's a useful rig to have in the arsenal. -Richard |
