VVTR Gurus?

I posted this on the Yahoo group but why not spread it...

How would you define the functionality of the following prefs:

# 1 Number of ticks to wait
# 2 Number of frames to capture before...
# 3 Sync tolerance

# 1+2 How do these affect VVTR functionality?
Any reason to NOT set them to low for stable sync?

#3 What do you have this set to?

When checking my pic/sound sync I feel the lockup varies more than I want it to.
Mostly it's spot on but sometimes it varies to around 3/4's of a frame (say once
every 20th
playback start) And even worse... I've had it loch to frames out occaisionally,
but then the
light is yellow on VVTR (other times it is green). Wierd.

System setup suggestions?
Recommended Kona drivers and QT versoins?
I cant go lower on the OS than 10.5.2 on this machine afaik.

PAL 25fps or 24fps only (Europe).

set to 30 when following MTC from Nuendo. (this will make VVTR ignore wrong MTC sent by nuendo after the final fullframe message on stop.
This means, VVTR dispays the right frame after pressing stop in Nuendo .

should be ZERO, of course.
there is another setting in "advanced preferences" to adjust the sync accuracy between +-1 and +-1/8 frame. (choose 1/8th , of course)

We have VVTR on dual 1,8 G5, no video hardware, picture on second DVI monitor following Nuendo thru MTC using IpMidi (nerds.de)
sync is +-8 ms (measured wit syncheck).
