Pro-Convert

Any Pro-Convert users out there? Specifically PT to Fairlight and back. Does it work?

Hi Nathand

I haven't looked at Pro-convert yet, but will be investigating more. I've heard some good things about it, although it seems like it's not "perfect".
But hey, moving a Protools session between Protools studios ain't perfect either! (try opening a session made on an HD6 with 2 Altiverbs on an HD3)
Goodnight Nurse.
We've just bought a Fairlight Constellation XCS - install early next year. thumbsupI've done extensive testing with Lukas at Fairlight in Aus and we can get AAF's made on Protools OR Fairlight opening on the other system with full and accurate volume automation. Pans and mutes also work, although not with the more recent versions of PT (7 and above it seems).
It sounds like its a PT or Digitranslator bug - There is plenty of chat about this causing problems between Avid and PT systems on the Digi user site.

best
Steve

Are you trying to translate automation as well as the edl? I would use AAF's like Steve said. Pro-Convert does not support Fairlight directly, nor does it support AAF (strangely).

Are you on a CC-1 or QDC? With the Dream II software they seem to have integrated most of AVTransfer which does a great job. With a QDC I guess you'd have to use AVTransfer.

I'm running a CC-1 powered Constellation XT. It's time for me to get the AAF plugin, as newer Avid's don't speak OMFI anymore.
It's great to hear that AAF passes automation across from PT. I never believed that manufacturers would really get to grips with all the things AAF was capable of-vested interests etc.
The OMFI capabilities of the CC-1 are certainly good. We can transfer picture OMFIs (as well as audio) in both embedded and linked versions over an Avid Unity server so Fairlight's 'Convergence' is working.
