Check out a radio spot I just completed for a friend. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attac...ell-spot-1.mp3 |

Good rhythm and directing. BUT, to begin with: - watch the pops (there are a couple); - the music is too loud while the other guy speaks (and the voice is on the mumbly side [try a little LF roll-off]), so it's a bit hard to follow the speech; - (to me) the clock gets irritating after a few seconds, so I'd turn it down a bit after the fight scene.

I get extremely irritated by all clock/electronic sounds, and the clock didn't bother me. I did turn it down once already, but much lower, and it's background noise. *This is going on the radio. When the music was turned down even 2 db's lower for the second guy, it seemed to loose its power. It was turned down earlier because it was hitting the compressor too hard during peaks. As for the P's... I agree with you, but there was nothing I could do about those. The guy was in the studio for about 30 minutes, and I was flying by the seat of my pants. He was also moving around a bit from what I could tell, but it was difficult - without breaking his concentration - to keep giving reminders about what he should and shouldn't be doing. Thanks for the advice - b |

pretty good! this is just being picky, but the VO at the beginning needs some noise editing. i can't hear the plosives on my crappy laptop, but you can ALWAYS fix that. if a roll off filter doesn't fix it, then you should be able to manually cut it out with digital scissors.

You can also automate the frequency of the low-cut - right before the P, set the frequency higher (try 120-300 Hz), and then immediately pull it down again.

You can always scoop the mid frequencies on the music bed to allow a little more room for voice intellegibility before you mix it. Sounded and looked (wave form) hard limited/clipped. The radio station is going to do that on their end...again. Beware. It's a good, creative spot, though. Nice work. Bill ASAP Audio |
