Ferguson is definitely taking the piss and going for laughs at these guys' expense.
It left a bad taste in my mouth, too, probably because it's not uncommon for us sound folks to get marginalized or trivialized by other "creatives" in the business. However, it's obvious in this case that it's all in good fun and Ferguson is just doing his schtick which is mostly snarky sarcasm and satire.
Also, he gives the impression that all
"sound effects" for a film are made by Foley artists which is obviously misinformed. But, whatever...it's a bit of late-late night TV fun.
