BF76 for on Dialogue Bus Any thoughts? In my opinion it doesn't have enough control on the parameters but other mixers I work with seem to like it.

that's because it's a replica of the original, for more parameters look at a different limiter/comp

I know it has a lack of parameters because it's an 1176 clone, that's my point. I have the Waves Diamond which gives me alternatives to what Digi offers. Was just curious if any other mixers use it and how they find it overall.

| I use it sometimes, when I feel I don't need "transparent" compression, and when I want to use compression as an effect. I do not have a preferred compressor and I like to experiment with different tools, as long as I can get the sound I'm looking for. If you're looking for a simple compressor, try Massey's CT4. | I've used the CT4 on dialog quite a bit. I like it. -abe

I've used it more on vocals than dialog, but it can be good sometimes when trying to replicate a softer retro sort of sound. I prefer something like the fairchild though for that 2 month release time.

I've used Channel G quite a bit for the last year . . . just lately for DSP considerations I've started using Smack! (lightly) on the dialog bus, it does a nice gentle job.

Talking about DSP efficiency - Massey's stuff is brilliant. Back to the BF76, I like to use it on VO, gives a nice depth to the voice, especially male. Branko

I think Digidesigns compressor works excellent for dialog compression. You have soft knee and a good user interface! What more do you need?

I haven't tried BF76 on dialog. But for the past year C4 in my McDSP compressor bank has been kicking ass! I also think the M1 limiter is as good as Massey's L2007.
