Thread Starter | Audio post makes things too loud..
A little provocation to catch your attention ![]() I mix t.v. shows, and have been noticing a trend : More and more items we get for play out during shows have gone through audio post (I guess because of non lin editing) and the items are LOUD, compressed and L2'd to oblivion.. I don't actually dislike the sound of em, but in a live show situation, it's completely impossible to compete with that level, so I have to take a db or 5 off to match my program.. But even with the 5 db off, it still has so much more energy than the live show (which, believe me, I compress and limit a whole lot), it just doesn't sound right.. I know you're sitting with a director or producer who wants it louder, faster and more in-your-face, but it would make so much more sense to treat items for talkshows differently than promos or complete programs.. I'm assuming this thing is not unique to holland? huub |
