Supervising sound editors...

Reading some thread in here lately, I've come with an idea: how about inviting well-known supervising sound editors, who work on high-budget movies (Ben Burt, Gary Rydstorm, Paul Ottoson, Dane Davis for example) to become our guest here;
I think, that there is a need to ask more or less officially, if they would come for a let's say a month or so period of time, and eventually answer a couple of questions, which we might ask... The worst thing, which may happen to the "asker" is, that they say "no".
What do you think about this?

I know Randy Thom lurks here and many places, jumping in when he thinks it appropriate. I always assumed some of those other guys did that too.... But those are some very busy folks....

Many of us could describe ourselves as busy (me too) - my regular day is 10am to 10pm, but I am able to find a couple of minutes everyday to open Firefox and read this forum...

They key is to ask...

Of course they may say "no", but unless we do not ask, we won't know... I think it could be much easier for people established in LA, who know that market and have some connections.

This is just an idea, which may improve this forum and our skills.

Please let me know, what you think, and if you could do something to make it happen.

Best regards,
Kuba

Great idea. I'm not famous, but when I have to wait for X-Form to do its' thing, it's forum o'clock! Surely some esteemed names could find a few minutes...

I'd certainly be interested in hearing what various supervisors have to say. Maybe Marti could talk a couple of supervisors that we know into getting involved in these boards, but honestly I doubt it. Most of them are so busy, and they could care less about a post sound related boards on the internet. I have to say that I'm not all that busy lately, yet I find little time to read the Gearslutz Post Production forum, as well as the DUC and the Yahoo Sound Design Group, as much as I would like to.

Hi Chris,
it's really nice to see you here
The reason, I gave this idea here is, that perhaps many of such supervisors may simply not know about such place like this...
Such board is a really great place for exchanging ideas, but also for making connections between people...
Many regular posters here are really busy, but it is really possible to find a couple of minutes during a day to read and post something. And I would suggest to invite them as a "special guests" for a, let's say, a month or so, perhaps later they may decide to stay here even longer... They key is to ask...
Best regards,
Kuba
