Working with a new Mac Pro...Not doing Major Features...Mauybe Independent features..commercials..company videos..etc..

And..Or

Final Cut...Or....Avid
Logic......or......Pro Tools

Whatever Combination..what would you have to have... AD/DA? Pre Amps? Mics/ Plug ins..etc.. Things you think essential to your over work flow and quality

Any Input would be great..

This is a huge question, and has been covered before. My company has both Avid and Final Cut systems and I constantly hear our editors say their tools sets are for different types of projects.

What I can say is don't get Logic for post work. Pro Tools HD with DigiTranslator, and a SNYC IO or HD SYNC. If you'll be using decks you need a house blackburst generator, and machine control for Pro Tools. I think the Digi 192 AD/DA is fine for Post. Others may argue.

Do a search for preamps and plugins. There are many threads here on favs.

Exclamation meters

Don't forget meters. The digital peak meters in DAWs aren't going to cut it.

+1

we roll with DK meters, and are sometimes provided with LM-100.

you don't need the snyc hd unless your adding external digital devices, but if you say... get quicktimes from editors, then you need only import those into an internally clocked PT session. you would however need the dv toolkit, look at ebay for discounts. also, some sfx libraries might help. also, two monitors works great and of course depending on channel width, a 2 or 5.1 monitor controller and meters, with talkback for vo and adr.

int he end really you need some plugins too. look at waves, platinum covers most of it.

One thing the SYNC IO can do regardless of other decks and digital devices, is slow down and speed up the session .1% if you're working video/film transfers.
