Lynx Timeline and the future...

Hello all!

I am using a Lynx Timeline, KCU, and Lynx-2 Time Code Modules at my current job and have been having a hell of a time getting it to do certain things like lock a DA88 to HDCAMSR, I end up having to dump the tape into PT which doubles the time involved on the job. PT works great with all the HD gear, but I get a lot of DBC's and DA88's that need transfers/Dolby encoding to HD. Anybody using a more elegant (updateable?) system?

This is the only guy in the country that could probably help you.

TimeLine Vista, T/L Services, Lynx 1, Lynx 2, MicroLynx Repairs, Parts & Service

Call and see if he has any ROM updates with new machine profiles for you.

Thanks TVPS, I will call. Anyone using a different system than Lynx for this kind of work?

I 'grew up' on Timeline Lynx & KCU's. I love them, but for HDCAMSR's - assuming you're running 23.98 - they can't follow anything besides NTSC/PAL reference.

I now use ION Soundmaster (especially for HDCAMSR's.)
It's much more expensive, but it can control practically anything, and the main guy at Soundmaster already knows how to make the machine compensate for processing delays etc. I don't think there's a better system available.

Yes, but there is a super-secret way to have a SRW-5500 output 29.97 SMPTE when playing back a tape striped with 23.98 SMPTE.

Agreed. I wish other companies could take 'support lessons' from Sounsmaster.

And it's worth talking to Bill just to hear his cool Scottish accent! He has worked miracles on my MicroLynx system.
