VVTR & Decklink

Hey guys,

I'd appreciate some some help if possible.

Are some codecs not supported for playback through the decklink?

Some videos that play fine in a desktop window, refuse to play through the decklink.

HDV is a problem, as well as a few others. I know the decklink supports hdv in fcp, but is this true for Gallery's virtual vtr?

I have always got the impression that one of vvtrs strong points was it's ability to handle a huge range of video (at least anything quicktime). But only about 50% of my files play through this and the decklink combination.

The decklink card is an HD Extreme.

If someone could help set things straight with me it'd be really great, I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious. It's likely!

Thanks as always slutz,

Elliott

HDV is a GOP, or "Group of Pictures" codec; it is not frame-based. Same with H264. it is encoded every nth frame and needs to be decoded. that is why it won't play out the card.

NOW, in Final CUT, you can get it to play out the card because performs secret acrobatics.

with VVTR PRO you CAN use the Graphic overlay feature to "play" the codec.

what i do? convert it to DVC PRO HD.
