Thread Starter | 1 Thing Meters are good for... 1 Thing Meters are good for... When I have a cold and am recording and can't hear anything, meters are my best friend. I'm dying today but the show must go on! Is it just me or does everybody feel like this is a career that does not allow for sick days. N8 |

| I once mixed a Grey Owl documentary with a fever of 102! Couldn't even stand up out of my chair. Still see it on air now and again, and laugh. Producers could care less if your half dead... but see how fast THEY cancel if they have the sniffles!

| I've mixed shows with ear infections, high fevers...Drop dead dates don't change for anything, even waiting for network notes until the day before the project is due.

| Sick days, what are those?? :-D I think I've managed to call in sick 3 times in the last 10 years - but then again, I'm a freelancer, so I have free days during the week sometimes....but being sick for a scheduled session/project can mean losing a client forever ![]() |

| 5 things meters are good for... 5. impressing a client with your technical abilities. 4. giving you something to look at after you've watched the same 3 minutes of film for the past 8 hours. 3. messing with an interns brain when discussing various meter scales. 2. something to spend all that unwanted money you have laying around on... 1. something to blame the cappy mix on, that you just completed in order to get it past network QC. ![]() cheers geo no sleep last night.. sorry... ![]()

| they also serve as a visual means of inducing sleep... at least to me. Still, I swear by my dedicated meters... but the needles are soooo pretty. *looks at the bouncy needles for about 10 minutes* Where was I again...? Oh yeah, stay in school kids. ![]() |
