can voice clip a mic from 5m?

hi all!
i just had a different kind of gig - i recorded a guitar-soprano duo for a CD release. overall, it turned out better than i expected, but i have this distortion in voice on certain high notes. i posted the complete problem with samples in the remote/acoustic forum:
samples - clipping of the voice itself, or is it my bad?

so far, i didn't get a satisfactory response, so i'm asking the postpro people to chime in, as this is not a specific musical problem, but also technical/voice related (i had similar experiences recording dialogue).

my main question is:
can a soprano clip a microphone from 5m (16ft) distance?

the microphones in question are schoeps MK4 (without pad) going through API A2D (gain knobs at 11 o'clock position).

thank you!

i agree with the other guys, i'm not sure it's clipping or overloading the mic. it could be the voice resonating with something else in the room or even sinus stuff. if it blew up the mic i think it would have been all over that note and closer to the attack.

I've recorded quite a few classical vocal recitals, and I've heard stuff like this before. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'd bet that zinging is coming from her skull. Did you check it for cracks?

May be if its a Beh****** ;-)
No, hardly - I would say its the voice.
Its more kind of a "heavy" voice. Those voices get distorted when growing older.
Distortions of the voice are like the wrinkles of the skin - sign of age

But it is right as well, that the room may add some distortion too, or just emphasizes the distorted voice (but it doesn't seem so in this case)

ok, thanks everyone. if the client ever notices distortion, i'll refer him to this page )))

but as i haven't figured it out for sure, this will leave a permanent distortion in my brain....
