Yes, mixing SMPTE with metal shred leads really warms 'em up not to mention fixing the intonation.

I heard musicians friend have a sale on the 'tube jacket' at the moment. Comes with swappable tubeset and sturdy strings attached to the ends of the arms....so they can be tied together round the back for a comfortable 'package' position while enjoying the 'warmth'.

Think some of you might be interested in going shopping for one of these totally analog beauties.......solve all your problems......

Doesn't SMPTE mean, "Sounds Magically Perfect To Everyone"? I guess that's why it sounds so good.
But only analogue SMPTE sounds good. Digital SMPTE is too clinical.

Digital SMPTE=MTC. MTC sounds fine... I listen to it via my MIDI to 1/4" cable all the time, when I need inspiration.

Yea... I've been analyzing every bit of the recorder... I mean I can play blank tape and crank it up all the way and still not even hear any bit of ''tape rolling'' dust and scrape noise from the the tape rolling on the metal heads none of that... Even the best calibrated machines still have a little bit of these noises witch I know is a downside in analog recording. But something seems a little phony to me about it, still can't figure it out. I listen to nothing but pure analog records I know the sound of tubes and tape very well... Im thinking of maybe getting a Revox B77.
