Quick Soundminer Question

Quick question for those using Soundminer...

With Pro Tools, does the Send to APP function copy the chosen file to
a specific (or user choice) folder or does it create a new region
linked to the file? (better yet, do you have a choice to do either?)

thanks in advance for any help...

-Abe

It goes to a folder you choose. And you don't have to import the whole thing. If you have, say, a car by that's a minute long (:29 of here-it-comes, :29 of there-it-goes, and :02 of loud stuff in the middle), you can highlight and import just the :02 you actually need.

I don't know the program that well, but I was taught to use the Set-up Projects/Bins function to create a project in Soundminer and set the corresponding ProTools project's Audio Files folder as the "Bin". This results in all audio that is spotted to the PT timeline in that Soundminer project to be copied to the corresponding PT Audio Files folder. There are probably other ways to work with SM, but that is how I use it.

thanks

Thanks everybody...

I am gonna pick up a copy this week, but I wanted to make sure I understood as much as I could about its functionality before I bought it.

Which brings me to an interesting complaint. Is anyone else annoyed by the uselessness of the Pro Tools search function in the Import Audio window. Sure it does the search for you, but after that you cannot import it, you can't do anything!

Anyway,
thanks again,
-Abe
