Anyone used the Studio Box SFX lib?

I'm hunting around for an effects library that dips its toe in most bases, and came across this.

I just don't need (nor can afford...) the scale that Hollywood Edge or Sound Ideas 6000 offers, but don't want to end up with a dated sounding turkey, so would welcome any pointers folks might have for a low budget lib that gets the (small) job done.

haven't heard of studiobox, but for modern general sound library nothing beats digital juicer in terms of price/quality/quantity (Digital Juice Sound FX Libraries by Digital Juice)
i only have the first out of three boxes, but i reach for it as often as i reach for 6000. it is greatly organized, sound quality is more consistent than that of sound ideas, and the ambiances are pure, great for layering....
i will definitely get the other two; can't recommend it more.

Thanks for the recommendation Danjiel - their 3 box bundle looks like a bargain. It may be time to give the cc a spanking.

Danijel-

This library looks like a fantastic bargain as a starter set or add-on. Are the audio files individual wavs that could be loaded into SoundMiner or Basehead, or are they in some proprietary format?

They are individual files without metadata. You have to label them your self in Soundminer. I dont know how it is with Digital Juice own database program.

I believe that digital juice has this one covered.... http://www.digitaljuice.com/communit...y=soundminer??

I have number 3 in the sfx series. it seems pretty good, and great for the price. a lot of modern cars. and a lot of sound design-y type (swooshes, booms, humms, etc.)
They give you one disk with all of the library compressed and their own search engine, and several disks with wav files of the library.

all in all, a good bargain.

Both the libraries mentioned look like good options and good values. I would skip the Sound Ideas 6000 series. Although it's a great beginner library, the sounds are old and over used.

i have also made a pdf out of their database (took me whole day), so if anyone needs it, PM me. it's just for the first box, though.

update:

I ended up getting the SoundBox bundle, and am pretty pleased with it. The five instances I've needed anything from it it has only taken a couple of listens to find something workable -maybe I'm not fussy enough? . It's very generalised, so inevitably there are holes when you want something specific (scuba diving FX anyone?), but for the meat and potatoes work, it's OK.

Some of the 'one shot' fx have a bit too much ambience on them for my liking, but no real gripes other than that. There's a browser based search engine included, which allows you to search alphabetically but no data base tool as such.

now I've got the bug, I think the digitaljuice library is next on the horizon.
