I use plain old Pro Tools, but many others have told me that Gallery's "ADR Studio" is a great software.

If you're using Pro Tools check out: Sounds In Sync - EDICUE

EdiCue enables you to log lines within Pro Tools which simplifies the task of finding your start and end points. It creates ADR scripts in various formats, midi files that contain count-down beeps, markers and sysex commands to trigger streamers.

If you you end up working on a project that isn't picture locked EdiCue comes into it's own. As your cues are in a PT session, when you re-conform it all, your cues will automatically be in the right position.

Regards,

Mark

Both programs seems great. But it seems that our video department is going to buy Gallerys VirtualVtr.

Do you still recommend EdiCue?

The price is quite different;

Gallery, VirtualVtr: 2336$

Sound In Sync, EdiCue: 485$

From my experience, Gallery's support is virtually non-existent.
My statement is based on their VVTR product, maybe they are more conscious
of their other products.

Do you mean Gallery's "Virtual VTR" or "ADR Studio"?

I'm not that familiar with ADR Studio but the main thing EdiCue would have over it is that you're cues are contained within your PT session.

BTW an EdiCue customer in Norway confirmed that the midi files that EdiCue creates can be used to trigger vision wipes using Gallery's Virtual VTR.

Best regards,

Mark

Try VoiceQ ADR or DUB

Hi Guys,

I'm the Chief Product Engineer for VoiceQ, an evolution in ADR and Dubbing.

If your interested in trying some new ADR and Dubbing software check out VoiceQ :: An ADR and Dubbing Evolution - Frontpage.

We developed this solution several years ago as an in house tool and it is now available commercially. VoiceQ provides synchronized scrolling text over video which gives actors a frame accurate cue for every word. Having the script on screen also keeps actors 'on mic' and stops them from rustling paper, actors can also stay in character and perform mutiple lines in one take without stopping. We also provide 'traditional' cueing methods of beeps and streamers/wipes for those old school dubbers! VoiceQ runs on OS X and works seamlessly with Pro Tools or any other DAW.

VoiceQ is now in use all over the world, from Hollywood features films, Animation series dubbing to ADR and corporate videos. For those involved in multi-language dubbing VoiceQ DUB supports as many languages as required and supports all character sets (Asian, Russian, European, etc). The response from all our users has been amazing and we are intent on making VoiceQ the industry standard.

You can download a fully functional 30 day trial from our website and we provide full support to anyone who trials our software. Mention your from Gearslutz when you purchase and we will give you a special discount.

We used VoiceQ - at first as a trial and then we purchased it. We had to do French dubs over an animated series. All of the actors loved the words scrolling over the picture - it was very easy to move a group of words or each individual word - drag it with a mouse! Tried another session without the scrolling and everyone protested. VoiceQ had great support as well.

dubbing/ADR

other generic dubbing & ADR programmes

TM Systems, LLC
SoftNI Subtitling & Closed Captioning Systems
SYNCODE: RYTHMO, DOUBLAGE, ADAPTATION, SOUS-TITRAGE, TIME CODE (rythmo-band)

many dubbing sectors have made proprietary softwares to ease the entire dubbing/ADR work flow (China/France/Italy/Germany + others)

I can second the positive experience with VoiceQ. It's great! We use both ADRStudio and VoiceQ; both have their strong points. Best thing about ADRStudio is that i can very easily control VVTR and when set up correctly it works superb; VoiceQ's scrolling text function is indeed great. Streamers and countdowns are also available in ADRStudio.

Only downside of VoiceQ is that - at least as far as I know - the video needs to be played out on the second monitor screen of your computer. Rendering the scrolls on top of e.g. a DV stream will be to heavy on the computers processor. Using the second monitor screen works flawlessly but being able to output the video signal to a TV screen would be even better.

So, can't go wrong with either ADRStudio or VoiceQ!

cheers

Barnier
