It's impossible to learn how to mix for TV and Film by reading. Least of online.
The only way to learn is by observing. Alot.

Reading on-line is a noce place to start. But as Mark suggests, you might learn the technical details, but you'll never learn the art. I suggest you do some research and read some books. Then find a local intership and get your hands dirty. You;ll find out right away in a real intership program what post is all about. Its' not for everyone. We lose about 30% of our interns within the first 5 days, then another 50% within the first 3 months. The rest weed themselves out over a 6 month period and normally we're left with 1 or 2 out of any 20 or so that actual have the chops and interest to move on and start working for pay.

cheers
geo

PS: I hope you have lots of money and lots of time. 'cause its' gonna take both to get in the game.

Hey sorry guys, it wasn't a 'how do i get in the industry question', im already in it and doing just fine although im not a mixer. I was asked to help out a friend with a short film which isn't professional by any means but would still like to give it a valiant effort. I was just looking for a tip like page with 'start with the BG's, then move onto'... and then recommended levels etc.

If theres nothing like that online, ive seen the kind of things im talking about in books but i was just hoping id find it online for free because its most likely going to be a one time thing.

Read through all of Georgia's stickies at the top of this forum, if you haven't already. Subscribe to the Digidesign "DUC" "Post and Surround" forum too. Read all the room cal stickies there. Read thru the Dolby site. There is a WHOLE LOT of info online.
