Not sure if it's the correct forum for this thread, but here goes: I'm trying to find a site where I can download current TV commercials with the intent on re-scoring them for a reel (demo purpose only). I'm already on staff at a jingle-house but would like to start freelancing later this year (for many reasons). As I've done more music for radio than tv, I feel I could use at least 3 or 4 more visuals on my reel before I'm confident shopping it to agencies and other houses. I'm aware of AdCritic and AdForum type of sites, I get their newsletter, as well as Sourcetv, but they ask ridiculous fees for joining, just to have access to some of the articles, etc. I'm not even sure you can download their visuals once you're a member, though I will look into it a little further. Thanks for any tips. |

Take them off the TV yourself using a TV card straight into your computer If you need any advice on the jingle industry fire away. I've done hundreds of the f***ing things, and run my own commercial music company.

Hey having worked as a Sound designer for 7 years doing Mostly Tv commercials and films.I would suggest sending your reel to music houses not agencies.I would also be carfull when doing a trk listing for your reel as many music houses dont like composers who have just demos on there reel they are looking for people who have a proven client folowing .So you must let them know, as they will probely allready be aware as there is only 5 or 6 music houses that work in the indusrty at a high level.Having said that the industry is changing and a lot more music houses are using out out of house freelance composers and sound designers.Look at companies like .Amber Muisc .Human .Elias,Ashe N spencer, they are the cream of the crop as for music for commercials .and then see where you go from there.....Good Luck my freind ......

| The best place to look is on the websites of different agencies and studios. They usually have their best and latest work online in good quality.

I use agencycompile.com. It's a searchable database of most of the US ad agencies. Not every listing has posted work samples, but many do. They're downloadable. You have to register, but it's free. A cool site for research purposes (you can view but not download) is commercial-archive.com. It's an inexpensive subscription site with over 40,000 TV spots from all over the world. Highly recommended. |
