Thread Starter | Position of head and tail pops
I received five QuickTime movies for the five reels of the film I'm posting. The pops both front and back in the embedded audio reference had their waveforms' leading edges one frame earlier than the start of the "2" video frame in the front and the "pop" video frame in the tail. This was consistent across all five files. When I slip the audio back a frame to match the pops, I see no noticeable sync issues anywhere in the film, but I can't help wondering whether just their pops were misplaced or the entire audio track is a frame early---or whether I'm wrong about where the leading edge of the waveform should be. Any advice?

they should be exactly 2 seconds before the first frame of picture. 00:59:58:00 maybe they were in slip mode or something where it ended up being between frames. try giving it a few 1/4 frame nudges and see if it locks in. They were all exactly one full frame early relative to the first video frame I assumed they should have been associated with, which is why I'm a little suspicious of where the actual sync should be. Guess I should contact them and ask! What's "slip" mode? |

To make it a bit more complicated, as we do it over here in Belgium, this is where the sync pops are: for video in 25 fps : @ 50 frames or 2 sec before the first frame of the picture e.g. 00:59:58:00 if the picture starts at 01:00:00:00 for Film (in 24fps AND 25fps) : @ 48 frames or 2 sec in 24fps before the first frame of the picture e.g. 00:59:58:00 if the picture starts at 01:00:00:00 in 24fps or 00:59:58:02 if the picture starts at 01:00:00:00 in 25fps Kind regards from Belgium Pedro |
