Audio format converter for OSX!?

Hi everyone!

I often bounce big sessions for TV, DVD - productions. I always work in
24/48 and often converts down to 16/48 for our FCP-editors or 16/441 for CD.

Can protools convert files without bouncing in realtime?

or is there a any good program for OSX that converts between different audio format? (offline),

so i dont have to sit and wait for a identical project twice??

-----------------------------------
My desired formats to convert between is:

24/48 - 16/48 for our editors

24/48 - 16/44.1 for cd burning etc
-----------------------------------

Ok thanks. I noticed that we have a program called Compressor at our office.

Is that any good conversion program to use?

Yes, highlight the files you want to export in the bin and then hit Shift+apple+K. This will bring up the export window. Assign the files to a folder and pick the format you want. Done.

There's also a batch conversion program called Sound Grinder that I recently picked up thanks to some recommendations from this forum. So far it works really great.

Audio Move. It's free, will batch convert sources files of different bit depth and sample rate to a single bit depth and sample rate. It uses the open source (and very high quality) libsamplerate which is on par with all the other top contenders. I use it to convert 96k and 44.1k audio to 48k typically. Fast, sounds great, simple and free.

Did I mention free?

Audiomove seems to be a great program! thanks!

But i still have a problem with Split mono files from protools!

I need to convert them to interleaved. Audiomove doesnt do that for me!

And protools is not able to export the stereo files in any other format than split mono.

cheers

You are not right, my friend...
If you highlight a stereo file within PT (which are actually a pair of split mono files) and press Shift+Apple+K (export selected) you will see the dialog which allows you to specify the target format - if you choose stereo, you will output stereo interleaved file...
I would strongly suggest to RTFM - lots of cool info inside it...

All best

sit down and read the manual. look for 'Export Regions as Files'. your PDF is even searchable.
