Thread Starter | I have mixed a :30 spot for a client. Their playback system consists of a DR16 pro for the audio playback sync'd to a window computer for the video playback. I have to add my spot to existing audio in the same project. The A/V consultant who set this up 4-5 years ago has told me that the DR16 sees the audio in the project as one whole file and I have to merge mine with theirs. Here is the next speed bump. The machine is in use 7 days a week and I cannot get access to it. The only thing I have available to me is an internal SCSI drive that the existing project was backed up to. I was going to see if the drive would mount to my G5, but I don't have high hopes. The manual says that IF the drive was formatted as Macintosh HFS, it would only be read by system 7.1 - 7.6. Am I SOL? I am looking for any ideas you all might have. Thanks much! |

Worked with Akai dd8 (i think it s similar to dr16) for years and i was surrounded by Pro tools. The Akai can read and write sd2 files , the only bug is the waveform does not show.Akai is scsi and has it s owned format but it can export on a SCSI MAC formatted drive in Protools 4.3 version , the drives are connected on G4 and G3 with OS 10.3 x I really dont know if it helped , i have trouble figuring out the interaction you have with the post house |

Thanks for the reply. I am actually the mixer and sound designer with the post house. I am currently working with the media consultant who is supposed to put this on the Akai, but he hasn't worked with the machine since he installed it 4-5 yrs ago. However, he did sent me a SCSI drive that he backed up the project to, but it wouldn't mount. I imagine it was formatted as an AKAI disk not Machintosh HFS. He did mention that the project was setup as one file, and somehow the audio that I produced has to be merged with the old audio. I didn't understand this. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks. |
