| SFX database/ management Hi, Im working mainly in film Post and Im looking for a great SFX management tool. I have narrowed it to Soundminer or Netmix. Does anyone have any recomendations/ suggestions. Can I expect to encounter one over the other more often? Thanks for any help.... |

| SOUNDMINER. They are great people. I talked with them at NAB and they said their new version will be released in about month.

Does anyone know which program's metadata fields are more standardized? One thing I do come across is the need or cross platform compatibility, as well as the inclusion of Video and other media File types that already may have metadata embedded in them from other programs. -Todd A.

| soundminer v4 is out and I'm loving it. i think it might still be quasi-beta, with a few bugs to sort out, but the user interface is much improved IMHO, it used to be somewhat idiosyncratic but now it's like the Barry Bonds version of itunes. Simple, straightforward, powerful, customizable. I can't recommend it highly enough. It does everything I need, lightning fast and reliably. Plus, their tech support has been amazing. Haven't tried netmix, though. |

| Soundminer is making life much easier. My old way of searching through FX was way too cumbersome. It's taking some time to rip all my effects into Broadcast WAV, but it's turning out to be very well worth it. I'm using V4 and it seems pretty solid so far. Haven't used any of the others, but I give a big Steve |

| Soundminer rocks. I have all of the SFX libaries ripped in SM but also a lot of the comerical music libaries are starting to provide hard drives with their cues already ripped for SM. It has definately speed up the workflow for us. Good luck... |

They also recently released Injector Pro, which is a very efficient and easily updated ripper.

| I love Soundminer v4- With whatever you get, be sure you can put metadata into your FX though- Once that is done, you can name the files anyway you like without losing your recordings info. Charles Maynes |

the basic difference is that Netmix is handy if you want to but content.... you can search the online internet sound libraries inside the application- Soundminer is really an in-house sort of application.

They are both professional platforms- Netmix allows you access to libraries inside the application that are internet based....
