recomendations

Thanks in advance, I know there are some real post pros in here...
I need some suggestions, eres the situation:
I have a client who needs to set up an audio/video room for documenting the interaction between autistic children and instructors. I have the audio ends under control (stereo earthworks or DPA mics, apogee mini-me) but the video ends is a little squirrley for me (as Im mostly an audio engineer and producer).
They need 4-5 high quality cameras with sync to sound within a budget of 7k.
I was thinking of a DVR system wired back to a protools/avid rig but am open to any suggestions or pointers...

anyone?

If it's not for broadcast, and it seems like it isn't, you may be driving a tack with a jackhammer. Why woulden't iMovie and some nice DV cameras do the trick? A camera you could plug an external mic into for better sound. Look up Jay Rose's website. He knows a lot about this sort of thing.

Well...yes and no
No, its not for broadcast
but yes, it needs to be of broadcast quality. The recordings, both audio and video, are for scientific research and submission and consequently need to be of the highest quality for professional editing and production results. Not only that but the nuances of child/instructor interaction need to be very closely documented (hence 4-5 cameras for all angles covered).
Would iMovie be able to simultaniously record 4-5 hours of 4-5 video streams + high or reference quality audio with timecode embedded?

I think I might have found the solution:
Real-Time high speed video capture with IRIG-B time-stamp
