| Lives for gear | deliverables @ -12 question OK, To avoid confusion, and esp. for my 'edumacation'... I'm finished mixes on my Mad Max PT 5.1.3 rig, and am about to send audio to the video editor - what's the ref. standard for deliverables? Is it RMS, or ? What plug(s) do you use? I'm esp. in the dark for film/video standards, so please help me out. Thx in advance.

| What is it? I assume it's not a show for broadcast, or you would have gotten the network spec sheet from the producer. Is it for theatrical release? DVD? Film out with Dolby PL1 or 2? Dolby Digital 5.1. Is it bigger than a bread box?

| Lives for gear | Quote:
It has already been broadcast, but has been sent to me to remix: the only details (aside from 5 X 10 frame breaks @ select spots) from the editor were: stereo mix (peak limit @ -12) mono mix the same dialog track low (@ -30) w no narration - incl. FX/music for poss. re-dub in foreign language w sub-titles No contract with anything more (this is for a First Nations group - notorious for nothing communicated well, or in writing!!!) - it's going to get re-screened, and probably re-broadcast at another date. As of tonight, I have a peak limiter set @ -12 dB to avoid overs (L2): this is why I ask: is -12 in ref. to dBFS, or RMS? I'm asking to not be caught unawares before I send this out... BTW - I got a great mix of it (except for the supplied interview footage laden with horrid wind-infested dialog!!!) but want to make sure -12 isn't limiting it into submission and loses ALL it's dynamics... thx in advance!

| -12dB RMS is actually QUITE LOUD! they mean: -12dBFS (peaks).

| Lives for gear | Tom, Thx - this is what I assumed, but just making sure. Another reason I'm glad there's this new Post forum - I'm sure I'll be in asking more inane and seemingly ignorant posts from time to time... regards,
