CCP|White Wolf is looking for an experienced Sound Designer to work on our upcoming World of Darkness MMOG. To create compelling and atmospheric game content and immersive environments. Responsibilities include: - Participate in the creation of test plans, test cases, and test procedures to facilitate complete product testing as requested or assigned.
- Perform software and hardware compatibility tests
- Troubleshoot problems when they arise.
- Write up clear and concise defect reports in bug-tracking system. Run bug queries and produce bug reports.
- Create test reports and provide QA metrics and feedback to management.
Other Responsibilities: - Creates high quality audio content for PC development projects. This might include sound effects, dialog and music.
- Using industry standard practices creates high quality audio content. Tasks include: Field Recording - Record real-world sounds for product development.
- Studio Recording - requires a solid understanding of recording techniques for vocals and musical instruments, microphone placement and having the ability to direct talent.
- Foley Work - Create new sound effects in the studio using various recording techniques and props.
- Digital Sound File Editing - Edit sound assets using a Digital Audio Workstation. Work includes music and dialogue editing, sound effect region creation and file naming.
- Digital Audio Post Processing - Sound format conversion, EQ-ing, looping, mixing, and adding digital audio effects, normalization and sound balancing.
- Sound Effect Scripting - Prepare defined sound effects using both propriety and non- propriety tools for use in the game engine. To define volume, pitch, pan, delays, layering randomization, and enveloping, to facilitate the triggering of sound effects in videogames.
- Mastering - Use EQ and compression to create high quality finalized material.
- Audio Post Production for FMV sequences - Using professional audio editing tools record, edit, synchronize and master audio for full-motion-video content. An understanding of EQ, dynamic range and compression techniques.
- Review materials delivered by external contractors - Listening to delivered sound assets for sound quality (good bandwidth, no distortion, appropriateness) to ensure they meet our quality standards.
Required Experience/skills - 1-2 years software testing experience
- Excellent communication skills required and must be a good team player.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in the areas of software testing.
- Recording: The use of microphones, audio processing equipment, and recording devices (both in the field and in the studio.)
- Editing: The use of professional audio editing tools like (but not limited to) ProTools, SoundForge, Bias Peak, Waves Plugins, sequencers, etc.
- Mastering: The use of signal processing devices such as compressors, limiters, equalizers, etc.
- Imaginative use of audio production tools, props, recording techniques, etc. to create high quality original content.
- In addition to organizing the audio assets required by each project in a logical way to best facilitate implementation and final execution, the senior sound designer is expected to manage audio content creation on multiple projects.
- The ability to work collaboratively with the other members of a game development team.
