I just finished reading "The Conversations: Walter Murch and the Art of Editing Film" by Michael Ondaatje. Highly recommended.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are the differences between this book, and "In the Blink of an Eye?"

"In the Blink of an Eye" deals with what might be called the "evolutionary" theory of film editing. Without going too in depth, the book deals with the idea that the eyes/mind edits incoming information in a way similar to film. This is maybe a bit too simplistic, but is the basic premise. It also deals with some of Mr. Murch's view on digital editing.

"The Conversations" is written in the form of conversations between Michael Ondaatje (writer of the English Patient) and Mr. Murch. My take is that this book is more about the creation and telling of a story. It goes into quite a bit of detail of the making of various films and the thinking that went into the various edits. It includes a bit of detail on sound. Part of the theory that makes up "In the Blink of an Eye" is covered but not nearly in as much detail.

Hope this helps.

I did. Among many other odd jobs while I was in high school/college, I designed web pages for money. When Flash and really heavy stuff took over, though, I didn't have time to keep up with the tech and so I stopped doing it for cash. I can still put together a mean, php-based static page though

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like. I hope some of the links on that page will be useful to others.
