It's a permanent download. So if you ever need it, it's there.
Mark-

you all who use this, remember to not change the time format, because you will not be able to be able to re-engage it-

dv toolkit or no, it is not the save and re-open, it is when you switch the counter is when you lose it. you can save and reopen on a 100 non dv toolkit rigs and as long as you don't change the counter..... so, you don't need to do your file length TC grid audio region trick.

i personally never cut doalog fill in grid mode, always in slip. the only thing i use grid mode for in Dialog Editing is to make sure FFOA and LFOA are adhered to. other than that, where the fill is, or where my crossfade is, doesn't matter.... UNLESS i am sending an OMF back to the picture editow -- which i have never done....

One added note to Tom's excellent info- If you are sending back to the picture dept., make sure your cuts are to the frame edge. In PT, if you trim the video it will only go down to the frame level (not 1/4 or subframe) it is a limitation of OMF (though it is sensible).

i usually work with another editor who does fx, and then our work goes to a mixer, so we have to be able to sync all our tone and ambience crossfades to the exact frame lengths before and after the cuts on all scene breaks.

Before i bit the bullet and bought dv toolkit i had tried that teqnique several times, the system aways seemed to "lose" the counter at random times over the course of a few days of editing, and i never changed the counter myself. Perhapse thats a quirk limited to my system but it never worked for me.

Honestly when I gave in I was glad to pay the extra cash to just have what i wanted instantly with no tricks...it was slowing me down, and time is money
