I'm luck enough to have seen Mr Clearmountain snoozing away while mixing. I'm just glad I was'nt paying for his time

Over $1000 is that right?

Hahaha - Jules your riding the fence on this one, either we go deep, or full board Monty Python. No in betweens.

Jules: Have you modified your board?

BC: Yes

Jules: (heavy breathing)

Jules: Do you do that SSL fader trick by putting them all in a straight line?

BC: (heavy breathing)

Jules: Do you take a nap between mixes

BC: Umm something like that

Just having fun with you!

Nagra - WAV files transfered to mac desktop via USB cable
Imported to Garageband - editing
Exported (as MP4a) to desktop
Uploaded as attachment to post in Gearslutz.com

In future I will get the whole podcast RSS feed / subscription & photo story-board stuff going

Yep just over $1,000

This has been the biggest negative perception that has kept the studio crowd away from ANY and ALL analog VCA mixers for years becasue of this crazy cognitive dissonance that VCA is 'sonically evil' becasue somebody might have once said that, and the herd immediately followed the leader off the cliff and stayed in that mode ever since because that's just the way it happens.

Folks looking for an alternative OTB mixing experience need to relook affordable analog VCA mixers, even if they DO NOT want to use the flying faders if included. I personally don't because I hate flying anything on any desk, and when I want to fvvking fly, I jump out of an aiplane or jet at very high altitudes and freefall and fly ... nuff said. Examples are Allen and Heath, Soundcraft, Midas, etc., live mixing boards that are very well suited for any studio task. Mod what has to be modded for patching and monitoring and playback and surround and whatever else you need to accomplish your professional/commercial tasks -
