Update:

The drywall is done

It's funny how 3 people working 7 hours can do more than me alone in 1-2 hours a day

Next will be the plywood (maybe I'll have do do it myself)

Here are some pics of the drywall:

Side photo to show the various layers

What will the final floor surface be? Sheetrock is great for mass but doesn't take dents or liquid spills too well!

I love the full length cable trough and cable paths under the deck.

Looks like you're using 2x3 studs for the floor... or is that some other dimension that we don't have over here?

What did you use as pucks for floating the deck? I'm looking for some for a project-

Thanks... looking good!

There's still missing the final layer which is Plywood

It's 44mm x 94mm (It's a little less than 2x4)

I tried to make an estimate cost but I gave up. There are always things that I didn't think of. And there are things that I don't have because I couldn't find them yet. But I am keeping all receipts to know how much I spent in the end.

I finished installing the last layer (plywood).
It's still missing some screws and I have to caulk this last layer but it can be done meanwhile.

Speaking about caulk, it has been a nightmare.
First, I couldn't find any acoustical caulk here in Portugal.
Even all the companies that do some acoustic work that I contacted didn't know what acoustical caulk is!!

I had to buy it from Spain, from the distributor of Auralex:

For now 11 of these:

Almost 20 € each!!!

Then the problem has been getting the caulking gun for these tubes that have 857ml (29 oz). After searching all stores nearby and the internet for Portugal I could only get guns for 300ml. I found it only in the US but they wouldn't sell it to Portugal
I then contacted the spanish Auralex distributor that told me that they have the same problem in Spain and in the UK, so he arranged a gun for me through Auralex US. Should come in a few days.

Here are the photos of the finished floating floor

Side photo to show all floor layers.

Next step: Wall framing!!

Really nice, good work!

One thing I've been thinking about is that I understand that you have some channels under the floor - isn't there a possibillity for sound to leak thrugh?

I thought about that too, but since all channel outs have lids, it should depend on the quality of the lids insulation.

Or the lead insulation.

For spot leaks, access covers and the like, bonded lead (eg lead sheet bonded to the back of MDF and affixed to the rear of the channel lids) is your friend.

Good thing about it is that it can be done as a retro-fit if necessary.

Cheater ...

You guys are doing great !

keep the pics coming

On the caulk,.........20 dollars a tube will break the bank
i used over 1.200$ in caulking , maybe 3 dollars a tube or less.
thats like 600 tubes of caulk

see if you can find somewhere other than Auralex to get it , try a HVAC, or Armstrong dealer or a commercial insulation dealer, where you get your 703 they should know where to get the caulk....... maybe

Your better off taping and using joint compound on the drywall, its denser and seals fine and its cheep,

use caulking only around the top and bottom of the wall where you leave a 1/4 " gap.

or where you dont want transmission like windows...ect........

The "acoustic" caulk wont skin over and never completely dries... so later there shouldn't be any shrinkage

there are fine caulks out there that are not labeled "acoustic"

but when its buried deep in the walls you cant go back and redo it... so my thought is do it right the first time

Also when you buy the stuff by the truckload they give you a discount

Company's like Auralex must have a 70%mark up or more

Like I said before I couldn't find any acoustic caulk here in Portugal, what I found that was the nearest was a very elastic caulk that cost me about 6Eur a 300ml tube so it's not that cheap. The Auralex cost me 18Eur but it is a 857ml tube so in the end it is almost the same price.

The cheapest caulk I've seen here was 3Eur for a tube of 300ml.
My studio is very small compared to yours so the difference will not be that much .

Thanks for your support Steve.

Cool,

You are doing the right thing by using the best materials you can.
its way easier to do it right now than to have to go back to redo something

dont worry about the gear, spend your $$$$ on the room, the gear can be added easily later but the room needs to be the focus now.

keep up the good work !

The wall framing is done.

I'm waiting for the HVAC to be installed and the ceiling isolators to arrive to start the ceiling framing.

Still choosing doors and windows (This things are very expensive )
