These last pics are impressive, I really like your equipment choices, I'm dreaming of having some of those one day.

I wanted to ask you to share some images of the BACK of those racks, if not asking too much. I'm curious to see how this stuff is supposed to be wired. Thanx and congratulations! I would love to pass by your place if I visit Portugal... I'm not that far!
Thanks for the kind words.
I'm still wiring it, I had to do a schematic on paper first before I wire it.
I had to do some holes on the lids too.

Barefoot Monitors in place.
I also put the Adams, I’m not sure if I will keep them.
I still need to put my NS10s but that will be later.

I’m measuring the room. The room as some small low freq problems that will be addressed with some modifications on the back panel.
I’m waiting for Martin to give me the modification plan.

Pics
Console with Barefoots and Adams

Here is a pic of one of the measuring scenes

Meanwhile I’m finishing the wiring plan and I’m already started wiring.

Have you considered speaker stands to keep your monitors from resonating the argosy too much? I know if I had the room I'd go with some nice stands for better accuracy.

I have this problem with my argosy!

I get lots of buzzes and rattles from having the speakers directly on top. It's not the console thats at fault, it's adjacent rack units in the rack bays vibrating against each other. They've all been damped with various things stuffed between them, but every now and again a frequency will set something off - drives me nuts!

Bought a pair of focul pods to go underneath the monitors (PMC AML-1s) in the hope that would help, but it did bugger all.

LOVE those Aviom monitoring systems...your clients will be happy, and hopefully spend hours mixing their headphone mix at an hourly rate.

Eduardo,

Your studio looks fantastic! Great work and a wonderful thread! Like everyone else, I've been following it along and looking forward to each update.

As for the possible vibration transmission to the desk mentioned here, I wouldn't worry a great deal about that with regard to MM27s. You've probably discovered, the force cancellation design as well as the massive and heavily braced cabinets produce very little vibration. Stands may give you more placement options and perhaps allow you to better position the speakers with respect to reflections from the console surface. But this would be true for any monitor. Strictly from a vibration perspective, however, the absorbent pads you have under the MM27s will probably be sufficient.

All the best to you!
Thomas

Very interesting. In your opinion the barefoots wouldn't vibrate the desk as much ....... but the adams would???

So there would be little or no sonic benefit from putting your barefoots on stands? Am I reading that correct?
So if I'm pumping the barefoots and I put my hand on one ...... I'd feel less vibration than other monitors???

I can't speak for any other monitors but my own. But you can crank the MM27 very loud with lots of low end, such that you might worry upon first experience that the subs are going to jump out of the cabinet, and still you'll feel little vibration. Definitely stands can help with placement related issues like early reflections, standing waves in less then ideal rooms and such, as would be true for any monitor. But I haven't heard a studio situation where the enhanced isolation of stands has significantly impacted the actual sonics of the MM27 itself. Well, once I stood one on my daughter's hollow plastic play table for a party and that didn't sound as good. But I haven't yet walked into anyone's studio that was quite that guerilla. My main concern with any stand for the MM27 is that it is strong and stable enough to safely carry the weight. Nonetheless, I've seen a few teetering up on skinny particleboard peg-legs against my advice. Not comforting to one who lives in an earthquake zone!

its amazing to look at the beginning pictures you had for the plans... and to look at the actual pictures you have taken of your progress, and to see how it is turning out identically to how you had planned it.

Looking great!

One question though;

Why not put your patch bays on the leftover panel in the console?

It just seems way more efficient and accessable than under the console where you'd have to reach down and fix it up.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the compliments Thomas.

I can confirm to everyone what Thomas is saying, Barefoot monitors vibrate less than the Adams, at the same volume the Barefoot vibration that passes to the Argosy is almost inexistent while the Adams you can feel more, although it's not much.
What I'm using while I'm waiting for the Primacoustic recoil stabilizers to try, is Mouse pads , and they work very well. I have 3 pads high below each monitor.
For the measuring I did and the position, Martin Pilchner told me that being on top of the desk would only affect the mids and highs, so it's not my problem now.
After I have the Lows problem solved I will try putting the monitors behind (if I have room for it), and see if it improves much.

Apart from some small changes I did, I think that it has become very close to the 3D renderings.

The 2U panel that you are looking is reserved for EQs (actually that and another 2U in the middle of the ones below) I am going to buy a pair of Pultec style Eqs.

And If you see closely I have 4 1.5U patchbays so that's 6U. It wouldn't fit on the console rack spaces left.

I use it to connect various listening sources, to control the monitors volume/switching and also for talkback.

It's kind of a Big Knob but better quality.

The windows were bought here in Portugal, and are made in Germany. Don't know the brand.
They weren't cheap because the glass is almost 1" thick.

Still doing wiring
This has taken way more than what I expected (as everything else since the beginning )

Some pics from the cables lids and how it works.
This is the 2 bay Rack cable box lid

These are the other cables boxes (without the final wood part)

3bay rack - Left bay

There’s only missing the pic of the middle bay of the 3bay rack
I’m still waiting for 2 pieces of gear.
